Keswick History Group [temporary content]

The Keswick History Group is a new organisation, created in 2009, and based around a substantial archive of historical material held at the Keswick Museum. Much of this was collected by the late George Bott, author of Keswick, the story of a Lake District town. The group takes over from the Keswick Historical Society.

The objectives of the group are to encourage interest in the history of Keswick and its surrounding district by:-

  • maintaining and developing an archive and making it as readily accessible as possible.
  • encouraging communication and mutual support amongst persons engaged in research into local history.
  • undertaking such other activities as may from time to time see practical.

The group welcomes new members and people who wish to assist with maintaining and using the archive. Researchers are welcome and searches can be undertaken, by contacting Dorothy Hind as below.
